Infrastructure
The fourteenth district, Penzing, is a largely green district in the Western part of the city. It is a mostly peaceful and tranquil area, with the most notable green areas including the Dehnepark, which is only a 15-minute walk from the apartment, and a portion of the Vienna Woods (Wienerwald). The nearby Ferdinand-Wolf-Park, with the attractive Palace Miller-Aichholz, is only 5 minutes away from the apartment on foot. The most important sites in this district are the Technical Museum of Vienna (Technisches Museum Wien), and the Ernst Fuchs Museum, where you can see the famous late painter’s surrealistic art exhibited in his mansion. Whilst actually a part of the thirteenth district, the large and beautiful Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens complex is also definitely worth mentioning, as it is only 4 metro stations away and a must-see on your trip to Vienna.
The apartment is located in Satzberggasse, a side street of the main Linzer Straße. You will find a supermarket and pharmacy as soon as you turn onto this street. Furthermore, the tram line 49 stops here (station Satzberggasse), just 150 metres from your house door, and it takes you directly to the city centre in only 35 minutes, terminating nearby the Parliament and Hofburg Palace. Alternatively, you can take a 10-minute walk to the Hütteldorf metro station, connecting you to the U4 and taking you directly to the city centre as well (station Karlsplatz). Notable stops along the way include the Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens (4-5 stops away), and the Naschmarkt near the city centre (metro station Karlsplatz or Kettenbrückengasse). Moreover, a Park and Ride garage is located right next to the Hütteldorf station where you can park for less than 5 Euro a day.
Head on down to the lovely little CUPn’KEKS café around the corner for a coffee and sweet treat.
Take a 5-minute walk to the Ferdinand-Wolf-Park where you can enjoy international and Austrian cuisine in a beautiful setting at the Palace Miller-Aichholz restaurant. For those that prefer Japanese cuisine, we recommend a visit to the nearby Yume restaurant. Should you visit the Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens, which we absolutely recommend, hike up to the Gloriette to enjoy a breakfast, cake, or simply a coffee in a grand setting with a magnificent view.
