Infrastructure
The apartment is located right in the heart of Melk’s old town – nestled between the impressive Melk Abbey, rising majestically above the city, and the picturesque Danube River.
Fischergasse leads directly to the historic riverbank, once home to the shipmasters. Today, it’s where cyclists start their journey along the famous Danube Cycle Path or where visitors enjoy a relaxing boat cruise through the Wachau Valley.
Just a few steps away, you’ll find charming cafés such as the popular Café Central or the Rathauskeller Café with its lovely garden terrace.
For culinary delights, we recommend Restaurant Zur Post or Koloman at Melk Abbey. And of course, no visit to the Wachau would be complete without a glass of local wine – best enjoyed in one of the traditional Heurigen wine taverns in nearby Spitz or Weißenkirchen.
Popular excursions include Aggstein Castle Ruins, Göttweig Abbey, or a scenic drive to Krems and Dürnstein.
For active guests, the region offers wonderful opportunities for cycling, hiking, or exploring the Wachau by boat.
I’ll be happy to share my personal recommendations upon your arrival to help you make the most of your stay in the Wachau!
