Infrastructure

The ninth district, Alsergrund, is located near the city centre and is one of the inner-city districts. The affluent neighbourhood is home to schools, hospitals, beautiful historic buildings and a number of cafés, restaurants and bars. It is one of Vienna's quieter neighbourhoods, where the streets are lined with grand old building architecture (pre-WW2). An absolute treasure of the district is the Liechtenstein Museum, where you can see the private collection of the Prince of Liechtenstein, admire beautiful baroque paintings or simply enjoy the beautiful palace garden. Other sights include the Freud Museum, the Votiv Church, which borders the first district, the Votiv Park and the Volkstheater, where you can attend an operetta, a ballet performance or a classical musical. Another remarkable walk takes you through the inner courtyards of the Altes AKH campus (Old General Hospital, now home to the University of Vienna). These are charming at any time of year, especially in winter when the main courtyard hosts one of Vienna's many charming Christmas markets.

The underground station Alserstraße is only a few minutes' walk from your accommodation. Tram lines 43 and 44 will take you within a short time to the U2 station Schottentor, where the University of Vienna is also located. From here you have the ideal starting point for various errands in the city. In the city centre you will find numerous charming boutiques as well as renowned shops. Furthermore, the accommodation is ideally located for visiting Vienna's countless historical buildings and sights.

The ninth district is home to many charming breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets as well as cafés, bars and pubs. Fans of Italian cuisine will enjoy the nearby restaurants Via Toledo Enopizzeria and Pizzeria Scarabocchio. For delicious French cuisine with a view of the Votive Church and its park, visit Café Français or Café Le Marché. In the evening, the Falstaff award-winning bar The Sign is the ideal location to enjoy exceptional cocktails.
